Arriving at 4.11am this morning, Solo 2, skippered by Rune Aasberg, is now proudly flying the Bergen Shetland Blue Ribbon today as the first to finish this year’s race across the North Sea from Norway.

With good wind conditions, Solo 2 reached up to 16 knots on the crossing to finish the race in just over 19 hours. The race started close to Marsteinen Lighthouse in outer Korsfjorden south of Bergen, on Wednesday 22nd June at 10.00 local time.

A total of 34 yachts in the race are closing in on Lerwick with a steady arrivals expected throughout the morning. 

The return race of 2016 will see yachts departing from Lerwick on Saturday 25 June at 16.00 local time.
