Sailing fans are being given the chance to watch the British sailing team for the Rio Olympics on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow, with sailing taster sessions also on offer.
RYA Scotland are hosting a ‘Sail for Gold’ event at Yorkhill Quay, next to the Riverside Museum and Tall Ship, where big screens will show the progress of Rhu’s Luke Patience and Helensburgh’s Charlotte Dobson as they go for medals at Rio 2016.
The RYA will run two days of try sailing activity on the Clyde in the heart on August 17 and 18 to coincide with the viewing of the medal races for the sailors.
By working with the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club, The Clyde Cruising Club Dinghy Section, Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park and sportscotland National Centre Cumbrae, a selection of Hansa 303s and Sonars will be made available to local schools to have a taste of sailing on the Clyde.
Eight schools are now all booked to part in taster sessions during day, with up to 30 children in each session.
There will be an outdoor screening of the medal races at 5pm each day.
Places each evening are limited anyone interested should book early.
Members of the British Sailing Team will also be on hand with inside knowledge on all the action in Rio as well as advice on how you can get into sailing.
