Tarbert’s seafood heritage is second to none. The Seafood Festival is a two-day celebration of the fish and shellfish from the crystal-clear waters of Loch Fyne. On festival Saturday you’ll find stalls lining the harbourside offering many local delicacies. Cookery demonstrations using local seafood take place on the quay and there’s the opportunity to taste some incredible dishes created by the professionals.
It’s not all about the food, you’ll also find a huge amount of entertainment on offer. One of the highlights of Saturday is the crowning of the Seafood Festival Queen and her princesses. The Queen travels across the harbour by fishing boat before the ceremony and from there leads the festival parade through the village. Everyone is welcome to join the parade – some people spend months working on their costumes, but even if you just want to join in on the day you’ll be made to feel very welcome.
Look out for the street entertainment and take part in some of the workshops, the emphasis is on family fun!
Sunday afternoon is all about music with ‘Beer on the Pier’. Head to the quay for some great bands who will make sure you enjoy the atmosphere in this open-air party.
