This winter Crinan Canal will receive £4.5m investment to upgrade four lock gates and Cairnbaan Swing Bridge, as part of a £12m capital investment across the canals.

To facilitate the works, Scottish Canals will be draining a substantial stretch of the canal, from Lock 5 to Lock 15.

As a result, the Crinan Canal will be closed a month early at the end of September 2022, as outlined in the projected works schedule published in April 2022. Scottish Canals are looking to open before Easter for the 2023 season to offset this and are currently developing plans for the relocation of boats at Bellanoch to elsewhere on the canal.

Scottish Canals will be in touch with affected customers shortly.
