As Scotland’s Iconic Clipper 60, Clyde Challenger starts her 2016 season her Port side hull has been branded in support of Scotland’s national marketing organisation for sailing and marine tourism, “Sail Scotland”. Following winning “Best Cruising Ground 2015” in the Sailing Today awards the ocean racing yacht was branded at her home, Inverkip Marina in March as her season started.
Over the next 12 months Clyde Challenger will be sailing to Iceland, the Canary Islands and across the Atlantic as part of the ARC+ event. Continuing her travels will see her spend some time in the Bahamas’ before sailing north to Florida and New York then sailing back across the Atlantic to Kip. Details of her trips and how to join them can be found at www.clydechallenger.co.uk/events.
Working with Sail Scotland to spread the word on the fantastic sailing to be found in Scotland, Clyde Challenger’s owner, Glenn Porter commented:
“Sail Scotland have been instrumental in spreading the word about what sailing in Scotland has to offer. Our guests from outside Scotland always comment on the many great aspects of their sailing in Scotland. Whether it be the amazing scenery or ever changing conditions there is something for everyone. We are proud to be carrying the Sail Scotland message far and wide over the next year.”
With a drive to increase marine tourism across Scotland, Daniel Steel, Chief Executive of Sail Scotland added:
“Clyde Challenger is an iconic vessel which has proudly carried the flag around the world for Scotland before, so we are delighted that she will be doing so again. With plans to visit key markets and cross the Atlantic this year, it is a great opportunity to get the message out there that Scotland is the world’s best sailing destination.”
