Embark on a real adventure as we sail Scotland’s renowned “Northcoast 500,” aboard Big Blue. You have the option to participate in one, two, or all three segments, integrate it with a driving tour, or simply relish this delightful Scottish voyage under sail.

The third leg sets sail from Kirkwall in the Orkney Isles, charting a course westward via Wick and Inverness, culminating in the traversing the celebrated Caledonian Canal. This leg is a coveted item on many sailors’ bucket lists and marks the completion of our grand Scottish circumnavigation!

Our trip is led by seasoned Skipper Jim Dobie, an RYA Yachtmaster Examiner with a history of sailing the globe’s oceans and leading expeditions to some of the most secluded spots, including the Galapagos, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, and Tasmania. Jim’s expertise extends beyond sailing to underwater adventures as a Scuba Diving Instructor, orchestrating expeditions to the Great Barrier Reef, Oceania, and Asia.

Big Blue, a Beneteau Oceanis 523, is your yacht for the voyage. She’s roomy, comfortable, and fully equipped for a luxurious sailing experience, offering both power and ease of handling.

With Big Blue, we swiftly traverse the seas, affording ample time for onshore exploration or extended sailing ventures. She’s outfitted for open-sea sailing and comes with a paddle board and an inflatable kayak for anchorage exploration.

Our yacht features four sleeping cabins: one reserved for the Skipper, a spacious double, and two smaller doubles. Each cabin can be reconfigured into twins, separated by lee cloths if desired.

Each cabin boasts an en-suite bathroom, and bedding is provided. We prioritize onboard comfort, ensuring privacy and warmth with heating outlets in every cabin.

Our focus is on hands-on sailing for every level. No prior experience is required, but for those who want to learn, we can incorporate anything you wish.

We have a maximum of six guests on board, to ensure plenty of “hands-on” sailing time as well as plenty of space.
