2015 will mark the year of Food and Drink in Scotland, led by VisitScotland this yearlong celebration will promote locally produced Scottish food and drink as well as helping visitors truly discover some of the finest drinks and freshest foods that Scotland has to offer.

Drinks

Everyone knows that Scotland is famous for its whisky and they are correct, we do produce some of the finest drams in the world! However there are also so many other great drinks being produced here that it’s just not fair to have the spotlight on the whisky bottle. From crafted gins to crafted beers, Scotland has experienced a boom in the number of new entrants in to its drinks industry, which is great for everyone as it offers more to discover and experience.

Food

Scotland’s diverse and unspoilt land is perfect for producing a wide variety of high quality fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and so much more.  Also being a nation which has a lot of coastline and so many islands, means that no matter where you are in Scotland, a fish can be on your dish the same day it has been caught.  Not only does Scotland just offer the finest and freshest but also some of the tastiest; from Stornoway black pudding to Arbroath Smokies, which also highlights the vast range of produce that is unique to each region of Scotland.

Places & Events

With so much fresh produce, quality food and fine drinks available, it is no wonder that so many establishments around Scotland take advantage of these to create and serve up amazing dishes.  Another great thing is the range of cuisines that are available – Scottish, French, Indian, Spanish, Italian… you name it, we’ve got it!

To top it all off there are loads of events held across Scotland that celebrate all these amazing locally produced foods – find out more about them here:  www.visitscotland.com/about/food-drink/festivals
