Kilmartin Museum is situated in Kilmartin Village, eight miles north of Lochgilphead. The museum has displays of pre-historic artefacts excavated in and around Kilmartin Glen. The glen has a vast wealth of standing stones, burial cairns, stone circles and rock art. Dunadd Fort to the south of Kilmartin is the ancient site where Scottish Kings were crowned and from the summit there are fantastic views all around the Moine Mhor, a unique raised peat bog. As well as the museum, we have an excellent cafe serving freshly prepared light meals and delicious home baking. The museum shop offers a wide range of books and gifts, many made by local artists. If you are taking your boat through the Crinan Canal and have bikes on board, it is a lovely 6 mile cycle ride from Bellanoch to Kilmartin Museum.
