Sail Scotland Conference 2016
Tuesday 15th March 2016, 13.00-16.00
The Chartroom, Kip Marina, Inverclyde
-- REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED --
Part of the Scottish Tourism Week Programme and proudly sponsored by The Chartroom Restaurant, Caledonian MacBrayne and Inverclyde Council, the inaugural Sail Scotland Conference will be a half-day programme aimed at sharing best practice and encouraging strategic collaboration within sailing and marine tourism in Scotland.
The event will directly support the Scottish Marine Tourism Strategy – Awakening the Giant, focusing on how we can work collectively to market and grow the sector. The Strategy aims to deliver nearly £100 million growth (from £360m) in value to Scotland’s economy. It has support and recognition from The Scottish Government and will deliver substantial economic benefit, jobs and regeneration to coastal communities throughout Scotland. The strategy aligns with the National Tourism Strategy - Tourism 2020 and the National Tourism Development Plan.
The full programme for the day is still being finalised, but will include input from:
· Stuart McMillan MSP, Convenor of the Cross Party Group on Recreational Boating and Marine Tourism
· Marc Crothall, CEO of Scottish Tourism Alliance and Chair of Scottish Marine Tourism Development Group
· Robert Wicks, Chief Operating Officer of P1 Powerboat Series
· Alan Rankin, Project Manager for the National Marine Tourism Strategy
· Daniel Steel, CEO of Sail Scotland
Delegates will also be given the opportunity for valuable networking, meeting fellow tourism professionals and organisations.
The event will incorporate the Sail Scotland AGM, which will take place at the end of the programme, for Sail Scotland Members.
